Overview of School
Queens Satellite High School for Opportunity is a transfer high school. We provide a smaller individualized school setting than large high schools. We serve students who are at least 16 years old, have attended another school for at least a year and are behind in the credits needed to graduate. As a member of the NYS Consortium Schools, our students are able to meet graduation requirements via portfolio alternative assessments (PBATS) and are required to only take the ELA Regents.
“The student population of the consortium’s 26 public schools located in NYC mirrors the city’s student body. (African-American, Latinos, ELLs, and SWD’s) However, the consortium dropout rate is half of the NYC public schools.” The Washington Post, 11/2/12)
